Cynthia Schincaglia, LPC-A, Play Therapy EMDR Spanish Portuguese

Cynthia Schincaglia, LPC-A, is bilingual in English and Portuguese and possesses intermediate Spanish skills, enabling her to communicate comfortably with Spanish-speaking individuals. With 19 years of experience as a licensed psychologist in Brazil and over 13 years in clinical settings focusing on adults, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her practice.

After moving to Houston in 2018, Cynthia pursued a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar University. During her internship at the Houston Area Women’s Center, she supported women and children impacted by domestic violence, which sparked her passion for Child-Centered Play Therapy and working with children. She firmly believes that healing takes place within safe, nurturing relationships.

Currently, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate trained in EMDR therapy and is working toward her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential under the supervision of Kimberly Harrington-Delgado, M.Ed., LPC-S, RPT-S™. Her therapeutic approach combines Humanistic theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive-Trauma Therapy. As a dedicated practitioner of Child-Centered Play Therapy, she is also certified in TraumaPlay™, which incorporates evidence-based methods such as Attachment Theory, Theraplay®, CBT, Art Therapy, Sand Tray, and emphasizes strong parental involvement, reinforcing her belief in parents as essential partners in a child’s healing journey.

Cynthia has been married for 25 years and resides in Sugar Land with her husband, son, and their dog, Teddy. In her leisure time, she enjoys listening to music, exploring cultures, spending time with friends, and discovering new restaurants in the Houston area.

Under the supervision of Kimberly Harrington-Delgado, LPC-S, RPT-S, Cynthia also participates in ongoing training as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.
